Gone Camping

The car is jam packed. I mean totally full. We won't even be able to see Coco in the backseat.

Internet access will be sketchy to none so no blog tomorrow Saturday August 1st.

Might be back Sunday but Monday for sure.

Everyone enjoy the weekend and be safe!

Cubs Comeback Win

What a nice win. We met our friends on Bluemound Road and took a shuttle to Miller Park for the game. The Cubs trailed most of the game until Anthony Rizzo hit a three run home run to give the Cubs the edge.

I spent most of the day getting stuff done around the house in preparation for our camping trip. Yes, mostly a trip to the liquor store but a few other things also.

A quick well to my Uncle Wayne who's hospitalized with some pancreas problems.

The forecast is great and I'm packing light for this weekend. Probably the kiss of doom but I'm still going light.

Tired and hoping to leave fairly early tomorrow morning. Thank you Cubbies!!!

Kudos To Jimmy Kimmel

I don't watch a lot of Jimmy Kimmel. I have a friend who is related to him but I don't really have much of an opinion on him. But I saw him go off on the Minnesota dentist who killed Cecil the lion and he had it exactly right.

Happy Birthday to Julie. Such a nice little party tonight in Tosa and it was a lot of fun!

A pretty quiet day today. The highlight was getting the oil changed in Cedarburg. It took longer to find the Jeep dealership than to get the oil changed.

A domestic terrorist was arrested in Key West after buying a fake bomb from the feds with intent to blow it up on a Key West beach. Even paradise has some crazies I guess.

It looks like they have finally found a piece of the missing Malaysia airliner that disappeared last March. It looks like just one piece though and it's possible the rest will never be found.

The MLB trading deadline has around 48 hours left. The Cubs have yet to make a move. We'll be at the game tomorrow in Milwaukee then leave for camping Friday morning. Summer is flying by fast!

Zimbabwe's Lion Killer

We can't seem to find the Milwaukee Mountain Lion but a Minnesota dentist sure found some trouble in Zimbabwe's. He was behind the killing of their famous black maned 13 year old lion. It appears this dentist used some bait to get it off the preservation and shot it. It's illegal to shoot a radio collared lion in Zimbabwe's. This dentist was also charged with poaching a bear in Wisconsin. Apparently hunting rules don't apply to this idiot.

I never understand the baiting type of hunting. It's not really hunting. Whatever happened to tracking skills. Fat lazy American hunters just like to sit in a stand, drink some beer and wait for an animal to appear beneath them. Might as well sit on a highway overpass and shoot at cars. They eventually appear also!

Starting to get ready for the camping trip. As I look at what is going on the trip I'm not sure that I understand American camping either.
I'm bringing my bush knife, a good book, a cooler of beer and a light sleeping bag. Now that's roughing it!

Huckabee Gets More Bitter

Krissy put up her new tent today and sprayed the seems with some kind of sealer. It's a tent that goes up in about a minute and it works great. Should have had that a couple years ago when it was pouring as we put up the tent.

A slow day. Coco is over and we made some grilled chops outside. Now it's time for him to make a packing list. Something besides swim suits and video games.

It's a slow Monday after a really busy weekend in Milwaukee with so many things to do. Almost too much really. Brady Street Days, German Fest, Air Show, a beer party downtown, a 4 block slide, Gallery Night, and major shows at the Riverside and the Rave. I'm probably missing a couple but it was nice for everybody to have so many options.

Shame on Governor Huckabee for using the Holocaust to use for political gain. The oven comment was way out of line. I know he feels he needs to be outrageous to compete with Trump but that's no reason to throw away decency and class. You should know better Governor and that's why you will lose. You've become a tired, bitter old man feeling like time has passed you by. It did and now you're beyond the point of no return. Shame on you!

Milwaukee Lion On The Run

A Milwaukee police officer and several other people have also seen a lion. Police tried to surround it in a ravine but it escaped in the darkness of the night. It doesn't appear to be looking to eat a human yet! Let's hope they get it with a tranquilizer gun soon.

It's mini-lobster season in the Florida Keys this Wednesday and Thursday. 30,000 divers drop into the Keys for this two day event for these delicious creatures!

Mark your calendars for the Milwaukee State Fair on Tuesday August 11th. That's the day Nik Wallenda brings his highwire act to Milwaukee. I can't wait. It will probably be my only chance to see something like this live. I watched his grandfather on television twice walk a wire in baseball parks. Unfortunately, he died on the wire in Puerto Rico a couple years later.

We woke up this morning and took Jenny and Joe home. Went tent shopping for next weekend and had a little breakfast. Couldn't find one in stock and finally ended up at Farm and Fleet. What a great store. Found our tent and some other items and drove back home for a lazy day. No lion sightings neither!

A Close To Perfect Day

Woke up late and had a great breakfast.

We had a light lunch and watched the air show from our backyard.

We read our books in the sun and filled up the cooler with beer and ice.

We went for a walk and ran into old friends who hung around for a few hours. Then other friends came and we hung around the backyard.

Once the cooler was empty we walked 7 houses down to Brady Street for the festival.

We met a lot of great people and had a lot of great food. All within a few hundred yards at most from our house.

Now we are eating African cuisine in our backyard approaching the midnight hour.

No talking heads preaching about the world's demise.

Just a lot of fun with friends.

Everyday should be like this.

Thanks to everybody who put the Brady Street Festival on again. You truly do a great job.

Milwaukee Air Show

Krissy and I ate lunch at Bradford Beach and watched the air show rehearsal. We basically saw the whole thing and we will see parts of it this weekend since it happens just over our heads. Last year it was fogged out both days and no planes flew.

I keep getting a last chance email everyday to order a business magazine at a discount price. It's always my last chance to get it but for some reason I receive it everyday for over a year now.

Another movie theater shooting last night in Louisiana. We're so close to having metal detectors everywhere and shopping and recreation will be such a hassle in the future.

Brady Street Festival is tomorrow. Our roads will be blocked off for the day. It's okay though, it's a lot of fun!

Hemingway Days continue in Key West. It feels like Key West weather lately in Milwaukee.

I actually feel a little crispy from the sun today. I better aloe up, we've got a big day tomorrow!

Key West Marlin Tournament

The Key West Marlin Tournament starts today as part of the Hemingway Days Celebration. The first round of the 35th annual Hemingway look-a-like contest also starts today at Sloppy Joe's. It's one of my favorite bars in Key West if you can get a seat at the bar. Always a nice breeze during the daytime hours flowing thru the enormous bar. I've visited Sloppy Joe Russell's grave in the cemetery. It's always decorated with beads and a booze bottle. Oddly enough, I've tried to research him a bit and there isn't much about him on the internet.

The do nothing Congress is still going strong I see. The Senate passes a transportation bill and the House refuses to even bring it up. I guess their August vacation is just too important. The American people certainly deserve better than this.

Former Ambassador Bolton was on television once again today spouting off. I can't think of any figure who's been wrong on just about everything but still thinks he's an expert. Oh wait, I forgot about Cheney for a minute!

The baseball trade line is up at the end of the month. I'm predicting the Cubs get Yovani Gallardo for the stretch run from Texas.

The jets are back and practicing for the airshow this weekend. This makes for a very, very loud lunch today in Milwaukee. I love it!

Coco On WISN

My son was interviewed on the local news today with his sister and his puppy. A cats head was found across the street from his mothers house. I saw the photo this morning and it looked like someone at the rest of it. They live two blocks from where the mountain lion was spotted on Monday. Hopefully it moved on!

It's Germanfest this weekend down at the Summerfest grounds.

It's also the air and water show. Last year's event never happened because of dense fog that never lifted the entire weekend. It's loud with planes flying low over our neighborhood but exciting to see.

It's also the Brady Street Festival. We are basically locked in our neighborhood on Saturday. It gets really crazy but such a fun event.

Off to bed I go.

The Milwaukee Mountain Lion

There was a mountain lion spotted just a block away from Coco's school and less than a mile from our house. It was captured in video and he's a big sucker. Hopefully he moves on, out of the big city!

As a country we reopened our embassy with Cuba. Naturally a lot of criticism and chants of keeping the embargo going for another 50 years since it's been a total failure. Just plain silly and I'll leave it at that since I'm still being kind.

The Cubs play a doubleheader tonight. A sweep would make my night.

Hemingway Days are starting in Key West. They look-a-like contest is a big deal down there. Some people have entered for over 20 years and never won. They all resemble Papa in some fashion or another.

We snagged a couple tickets to Lady Antebellum tonight. I'm not sure if I'm at liberty to reveal how so I'll just remain mysterious about it. We're leaving to walk down shortly. Trust me, I'll have my head on a swivel looking for that mountain lion!

Nuestra Senora de Atocha

It's the 30th anniversary of Mel Fisher finding the worlds biggest treasure 30 miles west of KeyWest. It took him 17 years to find the ship which sank in 1622. Over 400 million bucks of silver and gold has been found and they are still finding items to this day!
A big welcome to the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance convention in town this week. 10,000 additional people all dressed nicely are walking the streets downtown attending meetings and having some fun!

Ray Donovan Premiere

One could consider this a lazy Sunday only if one had some sleep the night before. I'm tired. I've been tired all day but that's okay.

Woke up early to clean up the carnage from Saturday. The recycling bin is completely full. No surprise there!

Gary and Michelle came over and we went to Fiesta Italiano. Gary's motorcycle was in our backyard. We don't have a driveway. It's a really old house so we took it up the horse alley at the neighbor's house and drove through a yard and parked it in the backyard. It was loud. The neighbors are cool and they don't care. They mowed their lawn at midnight on Friday night. Yes, the Brady Street neighborhood runs on a slightly different clock than the rest of the world which is  why we love it!

Fiesta was good. We didn't stay long but we ate well. Met Marilyn and Marissa at County Clare on the way home. First time we ever met but a couple of very interesting people. They split their time between St. Paul and Milwaukee.

Ordered a pizza and watched the season premiere of Ray Donovan. Such a good show with great writing and a great cast. I'm going to bed now. Have a great week everyone!

The Rain Tried

It poured. It thundered. But we could not be defeated!

Four grills. Plenty of beer and rum!

People are still here. We might go see King Solomon down at the bar around the corner. Or, we might stay here and finish the beer until my Jimmy Buffett  CD runs out. It doesn't really matter. We have friends here and we will go until the sun comes up!

The rain tried to beat us. It did not succeed!

Festa Italiana

Festa starts today down at the Summerfest grounds. We have free tickets so we'll probably stop in Sunday for a while. Northwestern Mutual also has their big shin-dig this week and they will fill the hotels for their week of events.

It's a hot and humid day today but I love it. We staged the backyard for tomorrow's big event. It will be a three grill Saturday.

The highlight of the day was stopping at Otto's Liquor Store. The prices are excellent and we always walk out with free t-shirts and beer glasses. Plus, a ticket to Festa and another for Germanfest! It's not much than the other liquor stores from us but Otto's is getting all of our business!

Baseball resumes regular season play today. The Cubs called up rookie Kyle Schwarber again. He's 2-2 so far today. The kid can get but he did commit an error already. Worse case we slide him over to left field but that bat isn't going back to the minors again. We've got ourselves a pennant race!

National Hardware

After 65 years, National Hardware is going out of business. It came totally out of the blue and everything is for sale. It's an ancient building well over a 100 years old. It just happens to be across the street from the new basketball arena if it gets built. Coincidence, I think not. Somebody received an offer they couldn't refuse!

Pabst beer is coming back to the Pabst Brewery. It will be very small but they are using part of it to make some old school Pabst and test a few new beers. Who says you can't come home!

Get well wishes to 91 year old former President, George H.W. Bush. He actually went skydiving again last year. Apparently he had a bad fall at his home in Maine.

I ended up washing 3 grills today and scrubbing them up pretty good. One tends to forget how grimy they can become. It was a messy job. It took well over and hour to do an adequate job and that was with some help from Coco.

As I was driving downtown I noticed an elderly woman crossing the street slowly with a cane. Life isn't rough enough for her apparently as some idiot on a smart phone checking his texts while walking smacked right into her. Luckily, he was very apologetic. Otherwise, I would have made him come to my house and clean my grills. Punishment has no boundaries!

Beer Painting

I really hate painting. The flat parts are fine but the trim is tedious. I was only painting a porch railing but I thought it best to bring out a few beers. It looks really good. I'm not sure if it's because of the beer or it's just the beer making it look better. I'll let our company Saturday make the final determination!

I received an invitation to meet Senator Ron Johnson at St. Marcus on Monday for a bipartisan meeting regarding education. Hopefully, I'll get an opportunity to express my disgust with the laziest Congress in the history of our country.

Speaking of politics, Donald Trump is leading the GOP nominees in the Suffolk University poll by 3 points. I'm still trying to be kind but I anxiously await the August 6th debate.

Krissy and I made some great yard bird today. Jenny stopped over and brought another grill for Saturday. I'll have 3 going at once. There's going to be a ton of food. Any readers in the neighborhood Saturday please hit me up and stop by!

I've been so busy that I'm behind on photos for the blog. I'll catch up soon I promise!

The A/C Is On

Finally, Summer has arrived. It's hot. It's humid. I'm loving it. Until the energy bill comes next week but who cares. Summer has arrived!

All the talking heads are up in arms about the Iranian Nuclear Agreement. Of course, none of them knows the details but that doesn't let the crappers get in a way of a negative outlook. Haters just hate and that's the bottom line. I'm done listening to the fools.

It's the MLB All-Star game tonight. I haven't watched one in over 20 years. Basically, I don't watch meaningless games with nothing on the line. That's just me.

Key West is really taking on Uber on the island. Setting up stings and arresting hard working folks just trying to make a living. It seems that they need a special license to haul people around. Of course, if someone went to get that license it is virtually impossible.

They aren't available and they haven't been for 26 years. But those politicians are always for free market capitalism. But only if it's a bribe and it goes into their pockets. Shame on the Key West politicians for letting this happen. You're starting to remind me of the politicians in Wisconsin. They sell out to the highest bidder also!

Gotta go now. Time to shut some blinds to keep the cool air in. WE Energies has enough of our cash.

Forrest Fenn Treasure

We saw a show the other day about the Forrest Fenn hidden treasure. I can't believe that I've never heard of it before. In 2010, the millionaire art collector hid a forty pound treasure and has been providing clues. His autobiography, ' The Thrill of the Chase' reveals some of these clues. It's buried somewhere in the Rocky Mountains.

Four more people gored at the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. It's televised on the Esquire Channel which unfortunately we don't get anymore.

Coco started basketball camp today. They went at it 2 hours very hard. He's bushed.

Donald Trump gets more publicity than all the other candidates for the GOP combined. It certainly does have a circus feel to it.

Hot and humid today and my hands feel great. No pain meds for 3 days in a row. Sometimes they get so stiff it takes a couple hours to loosen up. The up and down temperatures seem to be a big factor. That's going to make it tough for treasure hunting!

Bullies and Booze at Bastille Days

Overall, I could probably could have done without the last 17 hours. Jenny and Joe dropped by so we all went to Bastille Days together. It was a pretty large crowd and started off good. I noticed some Jimmy Swaggart wannabe standing on a corner condemning everyone there for drinking and pointing fingers at everyone as sinners. He was with a small bunch of guys who were obviously his loyal supporters. I probably should have kept my mouth shut.

Anyway, after a couple hours of that crap I let him know my opinion of himself. I labeled him a 'phony' which seemed to set him off so I just laughed and told him that he looked like 'a late night television preacher with bad hair and dimples.' The Jimmy Buffett line went straight over his head but I'm sure JB would have loved it. The guy didn't seem to understand that he was truly just a punk bully. Carrying a bible didn't lessen his offense and he certainly gives religion a bad name. He actually reminded me of that Westboro group who hassles people at soldier's funerals.

Krissy and I went back today for lunch and ate at Saz's. I'm taking a bite of a sandwich when some man leans very close to my face and said 'aloha.' I said hello back and continued eating. My shirt did say aloha on the back of it but I still thought it weird that someone would invade my space like that. Then he asked me if I knew what aloha means and I replied that I did and kept eating. Then he walked away yelling at me to get my hair cut. A few minutes later we saw him eating food out of the garbage. Strange days indeed.

Walking back we found a man passed out on a hood of a car. At first I didn't think he was breathing and we never could wake him. Not knowing if he had a gripper or too much booze we called 911. The cars owner came out why we were standing nearby to use his car. The look on his face was priceless. Another car drove by and the driver videotaped the poor guy as he drove by. Paramedics arrived and it turned out to be too much booze. And no, unfortunately it wasn't the bully!

Key Lime Mango Salsa

The above referenced item was our big purchase at the West Allis farmers market. The guy who makes it has a store near Alpine Valley where we will be camping for the Buffett concert next month. If it's any good we will have to make an appearance.

We're having happy hour beers at home getting ready to head down to Bastille Days. It's only 66 degrees here today. Same old tired story. A summer just like last years.

Shisk-kabob-alloza is one week for today. That means a weather watch several times a day as we check the extended forecast hoping that maybe some decent weather comes along.

Roger Westlund passed away in Key West. He is famed for donating an expensive urinal to the Tropics Cinema. Every time someone uses it they can read the amusing plaque on the wall that came with it. Key West, quirky at it's absolute finest!

Hopefully the rain holds off tonight. If it doesn't oh well. It's in a good bar district and trust me. We know the best places to seek shelter!

Kenny 'Snake' Stabler

One of my favorite football players passed away. Kenny Stabler played at Alabama and professionally for the Raiders for his glory years. He didn't have a huge arm or great stats, he just knew how to win. In the 70's he was the fastest quarterback to 100 wins. It's what matters most and the Snake was as good as anybody winning. Truly a legend!

Legendary actor Omar Sharif also passed away at the age of 83. He starred in Dr. Shivago and Lawrence of Arabia. Those two alone on a resume is quite impressive. He will be missed.

I was going thru a box of clothes the other day and found some of my classic coats. Coco saw my letterman's jacket and asked if he could wear it some day. I'm touched and honored.

It's fish fry and a flick now at Discovery World. You actually sit outside and watch the movie next to Lake Michigan with a fish fry. Tonight Beetle Juice is playing.

Bastille Days is going on. Van Buren street is the major road that takes you to it. Some genius decided it would be a good idea to repave the road today and were still at it at 6pm causing a major traffic cluster. Normally, I would call whoever made that decision a fricking idiot but I won't. I'm still being kind via the Grateful Dead aura!

Joe Mannix Lives

Another day in the low 60's although it appears to be creeping up. The extended forecast appears to show warmer days ahead. It's only July you know!

Tom Selleck is being accused of stealing water from a nearby town for his avocado farm. Local officials used a real private investigator to gather the evidence. I'm not shocked that anybody would steal water in a sever drought. I was shocked that Magnum P.I. is 70!

Jennifer Horne gave a compassionate speech in South Carolina to get rid of the Confederate flag. Many people wrote her off as an ill-advised politician. It should be pointed out that she is a direct descendant of Jefferson Davis who was the President of the Confederacy.

Coco and I watched an episode of Mannix today. It was a detective series that lasted for 8 seasons starting in 1967. It was a bit ahead of it's time and in my opinion was slightly modeled after James Bond. The star of the series, Mike Connor looked quite a bit like Sean Connery and the plots were very good. He was discovered while playing basketball at UCLA for famed basketball guru John Wooden. Ironically, Connors is alive and well today living in Encine, CA. He will turn 90 next month. That's what happens when you don't steal water!

Lemon Meringue Pie

We bought a lemon meringue pie yesterday. I found out no one else likes it. Oh well, it was one of the best I've ever had and it's all gone already. It was that good!

The downtown traffic is already a bit jammed up as they set up for Bastille Days already. It starts tomorrow. The food is terrific.

I heard a song on Margaritaville Radio by Delbert McClinton. I've hard of the name but that's about it. I loved the song and looked this guy up. He's still playing and has quite a resume. A trip to the record store is in order. Yes, we still have one by us.

The Bucks arena debate is going on in Milwaukee with a vote due soon. It's going to cost the taxpayers quite a bit. A joke of a proposal actually for some billionaires and politicians.

I showed Krissy an old newspaper clipping that I had stuffed in a box. It was a man who's wife died of cancer. He went home after her funeral and proceeded to spend weeks building a guillotine. After it was completed he actually used it to kill himself and it neatly cut off his head. Krissy thought it was sweet. I'm trying to be more kind to others like the Grateful Dead suggested. I'm so glad they never mentioned anything about being sweet as I'm not building a guillotine anytime soon!

San Fermin Festival Time

Yep, the San Fermin Festival started in Pamplona, Spain today. It hosts the Running of the Bulls. Another year goes by without me there but someday that will change. Three people were gored today in the mornings first run. One severely in the chest. Since 1924, fifteen people have died in this run, most of them Americans. A sports channel carries excellent of all the races. We watched them last year. I should have written it down but I will find it!

The  Cubs beat the Cards today to go 8 games above the five hundred mark. If the season stopped today the Cubs would be in the playoffs. I'm hoping the trend continues.

RAS Movement, our favorite Reggae band is playing tonight at a local park. Coco is going to make an appearance with us.

Coco has been to running camp this week and doing fine. Basketball camp starts next week in the afternoons.

Chorizo sausage and Ballpark Franks for dinner tonight. I usually don't grill sausage or dogs very often. Never do I do hamburgers. Tonight is the exception. Heck, I'm going to sit back with a Red Stripe and let Coco do the grilling!

Be Kind

'Be Kind,' were the final words of spoken thought to the crowd at Soldiers Field from Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead. It's a nice simple request from a simple band of very nice guys. Thank you for 50 years!

Burt from Burt's Bees passed away. I never leave home without a Burt's Bees lip balm in my pocket. Never.

Bison have been attacking visitors at Yellowstone National Park. When I was there as a kid I saw a bear chasing a moose with it's baby. And I was on foot and probably a bit too close now that I think about it. The national park system was a stroke of pure genius thanks to one Teddy Roosevelt.

Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant were both chosen to the National League All-Star team. Both were well deserving and will be playing in quite a few of these I believe.

It's back to normal in Milwaukee with Summerfest officially over. Bastille Days starts this Thursday downtown.

A man died over the weekend shooting fireworks off the top of his head. Alcohol played a factor. His brother said there was no need to call an ambulance as his head was totally gone. I won't state the obvious here. I'm being kind!

Still A Holiday

Don't go slow today. It's still a holiday weekend. Krissy and I are heading down to Summerfest in a few minutes. We don't let it go easily.

It's a simply gorgeous day and yesterday felt like the first true summer day. Everybody on the streets seems to agree. The coats and long sleeves are gone. We have maybe 8 or 9 weeks left of great summer weather and we shall not waste it.

Last night was low key. We cooked out some excellent pork chops and stayed in the backyard listening to the fireworks of which there were many.

Coco signed up for his camps today. Basketball and cross country. He might do tennis also but have a while to decide. Cross country starts bright and early at 6:30 am tomorrow. Yes, that shall be fun after tonight!

Happy 4th

The Doobie Brothers show last night was fantastic. They had so many hits in the 80's and an ever changing lineup. The two stalwarts, Tom Johnstone and Patrick Simmons are still churning it out though.

Kris Bryant slugged two home runs today and looks on the verge of being great in his rookie year. Hopefully he will make the All-Star team this month.

Coco came over and Krissy and I made some good chops on the grill. Just staying in tonight. It was another late one last night!

We have been watching the 'Back to the Future' trilogy. Certainly an entertaining series with Michael J. Fox at his best.

Fireworks are going off in the neighborhood for the last couple hours. Always a good feeling in an area of 100 year old wood houses when it hasn't rained much lately!

Happy 4th and be safe!

It's Grateful Dead Time

The Grateful Dead are playing their last 3 concerts ever in Chicago this holiday weekend for their 50th anniversary.. e tried but couldn't get tickets online. There is good news though. Sirius radio will be playing all 3 shows live on it's Grateful Dead station. Who would have thought 50 years ago of that notion?

Jim Webb announced his candidacy for President yesterday. I like the former Senator an awful lot. I think he's by far the most honest candidate on either side. That's not hard though. He will have an uphill battle but I wish him good luck!

It's Hemingway Days in Key West complete with a look-a-like contest. One of these days I will make it there for the 4th to witness this great event!

It's the Big Bang tonight in Milwaukee which is a huge fireworks show. We're cooking out first for friends. I better go out now and clean the grill before Krissy hits me in the Big Head!

Remembering Hemingway Tonight

Rocky 7 will be coming to a theater near you soon. Stallone is at it again but at least he won't be boxing anymore. He will be the manager for Apollo Creed's son. This one could actually be a good story so I won't write it off just yet. It's nearly 40 years since the original movie made it's debut.

Welcome Thailand as they become the 39th country to visit my blog!

The Cubs beat the Mets again today. They haven't lost a game to them yet this year. It still doesn't make up for 1969 though.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd will be playing at Summerfest tonight. it's still in the low 60's and we're meeting Julie and Jason down there to watch it.

Ernest Hemingway died 54 years ago today in Idaho. I prefer to remember the way he lived rather than how he died. He was a literary genius who enjoyed life to the fullest. He's also my personal favorite. He spent almost half his life in Key West and Cuba. Paris in his 20's during the fabulous 1920's. Pulitzer Prize winner and his books live on and on and on. When I hear the appropriate song today I will give a toast in your honor. You were simply the best there ever was or ever will be. RIP

North Carolina

Another week and another shark attack in North Carolina. Just a thought, but maybe it's time to stay out of the ocean for a while. It's not good to fear things usually but then again, it's nice to go through life with two arms and two legs!

Jimmy Butler signed a maximum contract to return to the Bulls. They also re-signed Mike Dunleavy. They basically will return the same team as last year so let's hope the new coach can take them to the next level.

Another chilly day in Milwaukee. Last night was another jeans day at Summerfest. We ended up stopping at County Clare on the way home for Irish coffee drinks. They definitely hit the spot!

We picked up more mulch today and bamboo fencing at Home Depot. It seems to be our most popular store this year.

Key West is issuing tickets to the Uber drivers there for not obtaining a vehicle for hire license. There's only one problem. There hasn't been one available since 1992. Taxi companies are sadly still holding on to monopolies hurting consumers in some places.

Karl Rove was on the radio blasting President Obama for opening the embassy again in Cuba.
