NYE 2016

Krissy and I are getting ready to go to John and Angela's for a pre-party then off to the Knick with a group of people for dinner and 5 Card Stud our favorite band. Be careful out there tonight! Watch out for amateurs!!

My Dad and Dee made it to Tuscon safely. Even with enough time for their potluck dinner with friends. I'm sure it's warmer there.

Forgot to mention that I received a prized W Cubs flag. It's three by five. Now we're looking for flag poles. We're going to run the flag up when it's cocktail hour in the summer. I'm getting a Key West flag also for it.

Lately I've been listening to Old Time Radio Classics on Sirius channel 148. It's really good and I can see how people had to use their imaginations back then. No video games to do it for you!

I've made 15 New Year resolutions. I seldom make any but I'm determined to have a great 2017 despite the Putin loving incoming President!

I recently watched Fox News regarding gas prices going up 50 cents recently. A commentator told us that expect at least another 40 cent rise next year but it's good for consumers and oil companies but when prices reach that range. I was born on a day but not yesterday sir. Let's make it a 16th resolution. Not to watch your bullshit station ever again!

Princess Leia Will Be Missed

Carrie Fisher just passed away at the young age of 60. Star Wars certainly wouldn't have been the same without her. I loved her in the Blues Brothers and Shampoo but she should have been in a lot more movies. She was a legend who will be missed.

Yesterday it reached 50 degrees in Milwaukee but the weather is a more December normal of 25 today. It's hard to believe that the 14 inches of snow is nearly gone. All the rain and extreme winds lately has the grass showing again which I didn't think we would see until February.

Rex Ryan was fired by the Buffalo Bills today. Perhaps the most over rated coach of all time in the NFL. He talked big but never backed it up. This could be his last job in the league as he's burned a lot of bridges.

Many thanks to everyone for all the Christmas parties we attended. I'm working on my New Years resolutions as I write.

Coco was the only guy out of 15 who showed up for soccer last night. So he was ran through a professional workout by a professional player and did quite well.

Krissy and I are getting ready for a Tuesday afternoon of fun. Not sure where yet as Tuesday's aren't a busy afternoon but we will make it work. We always do!!!

Goodbye Bernard Fox

We have at least 12 inches of snow and it is making the driving tough. We have the 4 inch rule so we can only park on one side of the road. Digging out of a blizzard is never fun!

Yesterday we went to a wedding and reception in the Fontana area. It was a lot of fun but thankfully Jim drove his big heavy Jeep although I heard it broke down after they dropped us off. Hopefully that turned out ok.

The Bears lost to the Packers on a last second field goal. I'm still fuming about that game!

It turns out Putin is the richest man in the world. He's worth 85 billion bucks. No wonder he's buddies with Trump.

The greatest character actor passed away this week. Bernard Fox was a legend to me. From Dr. Bombay to Malcolm Merriweather he could be anybody in any series. He was in the leading scene of Big Jake and had a nice part in Titanic. He never aged it seemed and he will be missed!

Red Wine Season

I always know it's the winter season when Krissy and I start drinking red wine at night. I seldom touch the stuff in warmer months but we've popped a few corks this week. The wind chill is minus 0 right now so we might be doing some more cork popping!

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates a quarter point today. No big deal as it was expected. I actually thought there was a chance they would do a half a point. There will be 2-3 more next year unless Trump spends us into more of a gutter.

It's the Bears-Packer game this week. It's not really exciting anymore unless both teams are good at the same time.

Christmas shopping is still on the table. I still have plenty of time!

Tom Petty Is Coming

I was correct in my prediction back in July that Tom Petty would be coming to Summerfest 2017. He's playing two shows on July 5th and 6th as part of his 40th anniversary tour!

Happy Birthday to Kirk Douglas on his 100th birthday! He's had some career and he's given away millions over the years to wonderful causes.

John Glenn passed away a 95 this week. He was the first man to orbit the earth in basically a tin can. No one could ever question this man's courage ever!

A tough week for astronauts as Buzz Aldrin became sick at the South Pole and had to be evacuated out for hospital care due to altitude sickness I heard. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

A man in Wisconsin just announced that he ate his 29,000 Big Mac. First, why would you count something as idiotic as this? Secondly, why would anybody admit they eat that?

The snowy weekend finally looks like it's letting up. It looks like we received around 8-9 inches of snow and the roads are just a mess.

Congrats to Mick Jagger on the birth of his 8th child. Yep, at 73 he's still going strong in more ways than one!

Goodbye Jorge

The Cubs traded Jorge Soler to the Royals today for a premium closer in Wade Davis. It was a winning trade for both teams. We needed a closer and had an extra young outfielder to deal. He will be a very good power hitter.

We're in the 20's today and it looks like more cold coming our way for a good week or so. Mango doesn't seem to mind the cold at all. I thought we might have to buy her a little coat but so far so good and she loves the snow.

Krissy bought her an indestructible Kong today. It lasted just a few minutes with Mango. It has a 30 day guarantee with it. Guess what's going back for a full refund? This dog can chew.

My new desk looks perfect for my book endeavor. I'm heading to it now to do a little book writing.

Santa Claus Ride

Every you went Saturday you would see someone dressed as Santa riding through the streets of Milwaukee. It's an excellent pub crawl that amuses the heck out of me. They ride fast and there must be a couple thousand of them as they are everywhere.

OPEC is cutting down on production thus oil and gas prices will be going up. How much is still to be determined but it's just in time for the holiday season.

Alec Baldwin does a Trump impersonation on SNL and Trump the thin skinned man keeps bashing them on Twitter along with the Chinese. Baldwin says he will stop the impersonation which is hysterical if Trump simply shows his tax returns. Fat chance, we'll never see them!

Congrats to Terry Boers who is retiring after 25 years at the SCORE radio station. He's the last of the original crew which made sports radio an all day event.

A man in New York took a bucket of gold shavings off a back of a truck when the driver wasn't looking. Eighty six pounds of gold is a lot of greenbacks. I must be old school. I'm rooting for the crook because somebody who leaves millions on a back of a truck unattended deserves to be robbed jut for being an idiot!

It's Snowing

Today is the first real snow of the season and the Bears won! It's not more than an inch or so and it will be melted in a day or two but it's mucking up the roads and sidewalks.

Coco had his first futsal indoor game today and they lost pretty badly. He has a practice tonight also. He had three shots but none went in.

I picked up Coco's IPhone today to charge it for him. It has like 3 layers of gook on it, unbelievable!

My new desk arrived and we're putting it together. Not as smoothly as the directions say and I need a new dowel from the hardware store to put the last leg on.

I've been running everyday since the first. I'm a little sore but not too bad so far.

Krissy and I started watching the Netflix series Bloodline last night. So far it's been very good just as advertised and the Keys really shine in this series!

Off to the hardware store now, take care!

The Big Bad Wolf

I was listening to a hunting talk show for a while today. People were discussing why the deer hunting permits were down and less deer were being killed during this season. It's down about 10% and people seemed to be in an uproar although I imagine the deer our grateful. A lot of people are blaming the DNR because the wolf population is getting a bit high for comfort. It's too dangerous for the hunter's to be out there. Really? The wussification of America keeps going on and on and on. Dear hunters, you have guns and the animals don't. If a wolf gets too close to you simply shoot it like a mass shooter in a movie theater. Please stop the whining.

Barrow, Alaska will have no sun for about two months until January. It seems like they are really up there in Alaska. Like Russian Vodka up there!

The recount has started in certain states and Trump is all in an uproar about it. He says the recount is a scam. He also says that due to voter fraud he has million more votes that weren't counted. Umm, wouldn't you want a recount then if you actually believed that.

I've tried to avoid the news and Trump. Yet, he can't stop the twitter so I have to hear of his nonsense. Now he believes that flag burners should be locked up for a year and stripped of their citizenship. Did this guy even attend his 8th grade civics class? It's been decided by the Supreme Court that he can't do that due to a certain thing called the First Amendment. Only 4 more years of this asshole and that is my first amendment right you fricking lunatic!

The Real Flo

Florence Henderson from the Brady Bunch passed away at the age of 82. She played the mother of a blended family and the show was really ahead of it's time. I was surprised to hear that she was 82 as she really aged well.

I really don't get the Black Friday sensation. Sure, there's some awesome deals out there but isn't there always if you look around. The crowds and lines just aren't for me.

Coco had his soccer clinic tonight. He's progressing well playing against the older kids. Most of them are 14-16 and he's still 12.

There will be an official recount in Wisconsin for the Presidential Election. Jill Stein raised the funds and pulled the trigger.

I cooked a 12 pound turkey today and it came out great. Fresh turkey sandwiches on great bread for the next 5 days!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving 2016

It was this day in 1984 that Doug Flutie threw his Hail Mary pass for a Boston College win. I'll always remember that day. I was on an airplane that was landing at Logan Airport in Boston and they announced it to the plane and everybody went crazy as they were from Boston. My friends and I were running a cross country race the next day and it's where I set my 10k personal best of 30:36!

Coco is over for the next week and we'll be leaving with Krissy for Illinois in a little bit for a trillion course dinner. They really do it big!

I keep hearing all these mattress commercials on television and a particular store advertises that they have no salesman at all to bother you. They really make a big deal about it and I wonder why I never realized how ruthless mattress salesman where!

I'm starting to feel a bit better about Trump. He's totally flip-flopped and just about everything he ran on. It's only a matter of time before his own party turns on him for not keeping a single promise besides perhaps one or two that will be marginalized.

Safe travels to all and enjoy this day especially and try not to argue about politics.

NCC Clinches 17th Title

Congrats to North Central College for winning their 17th NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship title. We won two when I ran there and I'm immensely proud of my time in the program.

The Bears lost another game today dropping their record to 2-8. Maybe they are worse than I thought but someone is going to face the chopping block very soon.

We have a 12 pound turkey defrosting in the fridge. It's strictly for sandwiches come Friday.

We ate hogfish in Key West and it's a tasty big fish. Apparently everybody likes them because they've been over-fished and new catch limits will be coming shortly.

Burt Reynolds is in Key West this weekend for a lifetime achievement award. This man dominated the box office in the 1970's like very few ever have. Congrats Bandit!

A Trace Of Snow

Yep, we went from 64 degrees to 31 degrees in less than 8 hours. We woke up to a small trace of snow but we are still on pace for the warmest November ever.

Coco was over last night and looks almost completely recovered. We'll try soccer practice tomorrow and see how it goes.

I ordered pizza online for us last night. Boy it sure was difficult. I could have called it in and picked it up faster but I wanted it delivered.

Tonight is 5 Card Stud at County Clare with John and Angela. Could be a cold walk as we aren't used to this yet. In two months this will be like heaven. You have to love the Midwest. Ok, you really don't but we always tell ourselves that until we can move somewhere warmer!

Kris Bryant MVP

Kris Bryant became the 10th Chicago Cub NL MVP today. Last year he was Rookie of the Year and before that he was the College Player of the Year. he's only 24 so he has quite a career ahead of him!

Christmas music on the radio already. One station is playing it 24/7 in Milwaukee despite hitting 71 degrees today. No wonder I'm burned out on Christmas every year around December 1st.

The Christmas tree lighting at City Hall was tonight. Thousands of people come to the city to see them light the giant tree. It's almost 6 weeks away, what's the hurry?

I opened the door to let the dog out and the possum is back. He was in the same spot I saw him before by the deck. I hope he's not living under the deck.

A man dissolved to death in the hot springs at Yellowstone National Park where tourists do stupid stuff every day. I saw a man with a long stick open his mobile home door to feed a hungry grizzly bear when I was there. I also saw the boiling hot springs there. I was ten years old and old enough to know they were crazy hot. This man bent over to feel the water and slipped in. By the time rescuers came to the scene his body actually dissolved in the hot acidic water. Like I said, I could tell they were hot when I was ten years old!!!

It's Mowing Season

I can't believe how many people were outside mowing today. It doesn't hit the 50's and stay very long in November but this has been a heat wave beyond recognition.

The downside is that it gets dark so stinking early. That's probably the reason why I've seen so many people driving without headlights this week.

Melvin Laird the former Secretary of Defense under President Nixon passed away today. Many a young men should be grateful for this man. He's basically the reason the military draft was done away with at the tail end of the Vietnam War.

It's going to cost taxpayers a bundle to guard Trump in Manhattan. It seems like the White House isn't good enough for the arrogant one so he wants to stay in Trump Tower most of the time.

Congrats to Kelsey Grammer on his 7th child. Not bad for a 61 year old guy!

We Still Have Boats

As I drove by the marina today I noticed we still had boats in the water. Eleven good sized ones by a quick count on a 60 degree mid-November day. It will be interesting to see how long they remain there!

Coco is still sick and went to the doctor today. He has to go back tomorrow and he is battling a lung virus.

The Bears lost another game yesterday and Kyle Long is out for the season with an ankle injury. This is maybe the worst Bears season ever. Luckily, the Cubs won the World Series or we would be taking it much harder.

PBS anchor Gwen Ifill passed away from cancer at the age of 61. She was a PBS legend and will be missed.

I'm ordering school pics now for Coco. Never enough time in the day to finish everything!

Back From The Ledge

What can I say? Nobody expected the Election results from Tuesday night, not even Trump who expected to lose. Clinton did win the popular vote which really isn't a consolation prize and there is no second prize. I watched Trump at the White House. He looked scared to death. He never really wanted this job nor is prepared to do it. He better learn quick but I have no confidence in the man. Obama is handing him a much better off country than Bush handed Obama. He has a GOP fully controlled Congress so there are no excuses. Put up or shut up time.

I was clearly angry and upset the last few days but was reminded by a conversation I had with a horse racing buddy of mine who was an attorney that I worked with. The owners of the company weren't paying their bills and later went out of business and one to jail. My buddy told me to do my job and do it well and not worry about them because that's life sometimes. Garrison Keiler wrote a similar article this week. He basically said all Democrats should go out and really really enjoy their lives as we have absolutely no power at the present time. If Trump screws up things will take care of themselves.

So, I'm going on with my life and focusing on my writing projects and making plans for a fantastic 2017 with Krissy and Coco. I quit watching all the political shows already which is a huge start for me.

Coco has been sick all week and missed soccer last night. It's the first time in a long time that he's been this sick.

Tonight is a happy hour at the new Mangoes Cafe East then down to Harry's on Brady to watch Five Card Stud.

This afternoon we are breaking down the yard. The bamboo is coming off the fences, yard lights off the trees and tarps over all the lawn furniture. We are in the midst of the warmest November ever but we had our first frost last night. I can't wait until next summer. It's going to be the best one yet!

Election Predictions

It's almost a 60 degree Election Day in Milwaukee and lines were long already this morning. I waited for 40 minutes and had to take off to get Coco to school in time so I'm heading back in a few. Krissy managed to squeak in because the second half of the alphabet moved faster in their line. Go figure.

I'm getting sick of Donny Jr. This guy makes his old man look like a minor league con man. First he tweets about a fake assassination attempt on his father then this morning he was telling the morning shows that people whisper "good job" in his ear when he's at places like gas stations filling up. Yes, how much is gas in Manhattan Donny? I'm sure you drive yourself and fill up often right downtown. Speaking of gas, we are under 2 bucks a gallon in Wisconsin. Ole Donny predicted 6 dollar gas when Obama took over!

Anyways, here are my predictions for tonight. Clinton gets 352 electoral college votes and Trump gets 186. The Senate will be 53 Democrats and they also pick up 33 House seats!

These numbers might appear high to some people but I still have faith in people and in SANITY!!!

Go Vote!

The Warm November

What a great warm November so far with multiple days hitting 70 and the forecast looks terrific for the next 10 days. I don't remember anything like this in the Midwest. Usually a day at most but that's mostly in October.

Krissy was up North for the weekend and Coco and I went to watch the Wisconsin State Soccer Championship. Congrats to Whitefish Bay on their second consecutive title. They played without their leading scorer and still won. It looks like they have 4-5 Division One players on that team.

Coco started both his soccer clinic and his soccer league practice this week. Soccer three times a week and he loves it!

I'm still on cloud nine from the Cubs being the World Series Champions. Such a great team and I'm looking forward to spring training!

A Game For The Ages

Last night wasn't just a baseball game. It's been written before that the Cubs winning the World Series was the last great American sporting story of our lifetime. I believe that to be true. It's hard to put into words but it touched so many lives for the living and the dead. I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face all day.

I listened to the radio today hearing so many great stories. One man watched the game in a lawn chair next to his father's grave in an Indiana cemetery. His father always wanted to watch the Cubs win it all with his son. Unfortunately, he didn't live long enough but his son never forgot his father on the night the Cubs won it all.

Another man in hospice care was given a few more hours to live. What does he do? He's down to single digits in the hours of life and he has his family with him to watch the World Series. He passed away at 3:47am today knowing that his Cubs were the World Champions.

It's hard for us die-hard Cub fans to put into words exactly what this means to us individually and as a collective Cub nation. The owner of the Cubs met his wife in the left field bleachers and he's not into this for the money. It's an experience I guess. A lot of ups and downs and more downs in our lifetime than the occasional good team.

It was a brilliant game with clutch hits, excellent base running, home runs and mistakes on both sides with a rain delay and it went into extra innings. One thing I'm certain that it was not. It wasn't merely just a game for us.

We Have A Game 7

A big game from the Cubs as they win 9-3 and go to a game 7 tomorrow in Cleveland. It doesn't get any better than that. I'm so into baseball and hanging on every pitch and talking to my homeboys back in Chicago that I haven't been following anything else. I'm so wrapped into this that the rest of the world could explode and I might not notice. When you've been waiting your entire life for an event and it's actually happening not much else seems too important. Go Cubs!

We had the last dog training class for Mango and she graduated. In fact, she did her trick in front of the class quite well and we were very pleased with her.

Coco is now signed up for an indoor soccer league on Sunday nights and twice a week training classes with a pro soccer coach. It's all soccer for him after the World Series which he watched with me tonight.

One more night for baseball and baseball being the center stage. I think it goes my way and we win the World Series. Here's to dreams coming true!

Back To Cleveland

A tough Saturday night followed by a great Sunday night as the Cubs go back to Cleveland for game 6. They played lousy last night and tonight's game was just a thriller with Aroldis Chapman pitching one of the best relief jobs that I've ever seen. Being down 3 games to 1 is tough enough then a game 5 win 3-2 keeps every fan on the edge. This team has so much heart. I'm still believing we win in 7!

Tonight we watched the game at home. Last night we went to Jack's Pub. The Guinness folks were there and I came away with a winter hat, a fantastic t-shirt and a free beer. The only disappointment was the Cubs playing lousy.

Tomorrow, Joe Maddon has his club all in costume suits for the trip to Cleveland. Keeping them loose and hopefully winning 2 more games and becoming World Champions!

Coco is back in town. He'll be here for the games this week. I'm not sure if he understands how big this event is for me personally or Cubs fans throughout the world. I can't even describe it myself. Hanging on every pitch watching the post game show for hours and just enjoying the moment. It's pretty damn special!

Wind Blowing Out At Wrigley

Holy Cow! The wind is blowing out for the first World Series game in 71 years. That means a lot of home runs if the pitcher doesn't keep the ball down.

Coco called me from Nantucket. He liked Boston a lot better. He saw the Boston Garden and took a tour of Harvard where he bought a hat. Then, a tour of Boston College and bought a sweatshirt. He is flying back Sunday just in time to trick or treat with friends so he needs me to keep his scooter ready.

The GDP numbers came out today at a great 2.95% which is tge highest in two years. Unfortunately you'll have a hard time running into anybody tonight who wants to talk about that.

Exxon had record profits today but isn't making as much as they should they feel because of low oil prices. Therefore, the will layoff people and lower output in an effort to drive prices up. That's exactly why "drill baby drill" doesn't work and free market talkers are just that, fricking talkers. I hope the Saudi's dump a ton of oil on the market and cuts gas prices in half because of these greedy bastards!

Mango keeps begging me for food which I never give her. So today, I loaded up a nacho chip with spicy salsa and let her eat it. Yep, she loved it which I totally didn't expect!

Krissy is the best. She bought me Red Stripe for the game tonight. It's going to be a game for the ages folks, a game for the ages. Go Cubs!

Ted Cruz Hostage Taker

Let's play Jeopardy for a second. The answer is Ted Cruz. The question is: What is a piece of crap with feet? People say Trump is the worst option ever for President but there is a reason he beat ole Ted. Cruz just shuts things down and says no with offering no solutions which is why he will lose his Senate seat in 2018. He says he would keep a Supreme Court nomination off the table if Clinton is elected. My God man, just do your job for once or return your paycheck!

Mango did well in her last dog training class. She will spin either way multiple times for a treat. It's the only thing she's done better than the rest of the class except rip up chew toys!

Coco is still in Boston. His phone must need some juice as he hasn't returned my text.

The Jazz Estate reopens under new management on November 3rd with the new owners from Bryant's Cocktail Lounge. It was always a great little jazz joint and now it will have the best drinks in town!

The Cubs tied up the World Series last night at a game a piece. Jake battled well pitching a no-hitter into the 6th. A lot of people said activating Schwarber from the disabled list was foolish. Well, he has the second hottest bat with 3 huge hits. I'll take that fool Theo Epstein making the calls any day of the year. Go Cubs!

Finish Strong

It's been almost 8 months since we went to Spring Training and watched the Cubs play this magnificent season. From start to finish they have been the absolute best team in baseball. Sometimes the best team in the regular season doesn't win the whole thing so I'm treating everyday as a must win until it's over. Go Cubs, Go!

Coco is still in Boston. I received a really good picture of him taking the train with headphones on. It's in black and white and one of my favorite pics of number one son.

I've received two more class action lawsuit invites in the last couple weeks. I've been in a few already and most of them stem back to 2007 and 2008. The payouts are usually fairly low unless you're an attorney.

It's a typical fall day once again on Wisconsin. Sunny and hanging around 50. We'll long for these days in a couple more months. This is why we pack in so many wonderful events for the summer as we live it up for the few months we can wear flip flops!

The Big Blue Machine

Pete Rose said the Cubs will be the Big Blue Machine in a couple years. A bright comparison and a true compliment to the Big Red Machine which he played on in the 70s. Thank you Pete, I know that was hard to say!

I had stomach problems before the game and during the game. I was blaming it on the Chinese food we had after Jenny's baptism but it completely went away on the game ending double play.

Getting to the World Series meant even more to me than I thought. I come from a family of Cubs fans and most of them have passed waiting for this moment. A lot of memories came back after that third out and a sense of relief that the Cubs made it to the classic.

It still won't be complete until we win the whole thing but it's still a great feeling. Coco is in Boston on vacation. Krissy is under the weather in bed. My dog Mango is sleeping on the couch.

I'm sitting in my barber chair drinking beer by myself watching the celebration and all the interviews. I'll line the beer bottles up on the counter and just stay up as long as the coverage is on.

Then, I'll watch an old movie and start going over the Cleveland Indians lineup. We still got 4 more games to win. Then, I'll celebrate on that night until I pass out! Go Cubs Go!

It's Gotta Be Rigged

I'm totally serious when I say the election could be rigged. If little Donny gets more than 150 electoral votes then somebody is double pulling the machine handles. Such a poor unprepared candidate with a sense of entitlement his whole life. My friends and I always liked playing sports against guys like this. We'd beat the hell out of them and just before the finish they'd take their ball and go home before it was an official game! They'd drive off in their sports car and we'd take the bus but we didn't care because we beat them and they knew it.

The Cubs are up big time 10-2 as the bats came alive tonight. It's just what they needed!

Curt Schilling announced that he is going to run against Senator Warren for her Senate seat. He said he eventually wants to run for President. She would eat this guy up and he should be in jail for costing Rhode Island taxpayers 75 million bucks and walking away from a business that fell apart faster than a three dollar bill.

The Bears play the Packers tomorrow night so I'll be flipping channels as the Cubs play at the same time. Coco had a chance to wear Packer gear to school today and meet LeRoy Butler. Instead, he wore his uniform and told Mr. Butler that he was a Bears fan. Loyalty to the bone, that's my boy!

Forever Campaign

I was talking to some friends on Sunday about how this is the longest campaign in the history of the world it seems. Everybody is ready for this to be over. Kudos to Adrian Gonzalez of the L.A Dodgers for refusing to stay at the Trump hotel when they were in Chicago. I guess he didn't feel like paying Trump for being called names. The rest of the team followed him to a different hotel for the recent playoff series. Hit him on the pocketbook is the best way to teach a rich guy a lesson. Always has been and always will be!

The Cubs are 1-1 with the Dodgers in the playoffs. It resumes tomorrow night. We watched the first game at the Camp Bar in the Third Ward and had a great time while watching the Badgers game at the same time.

We have a father-son soccer game tomorrow with the St. Marcus team as part of their soccer celebration. I'll play hard and hope I don't leave a torn muscle on the field. I was never a soccer player so I'll try and not embarrass myself. Needless to say, I'll play it like I did basketball and try and get away with as many fouls as possible!!!

From The Gipper To The Groper

It's been 36 years since the Gipper won the Presidential election and this one has gone so far down the gutter it isn't even funny anymore. I'm not sure why some people actually seemed surprised. This started way back in the primaries and was a name calling contest from the start into it morphed into a soap opera with the Trumpster being accused of a lot of things this week.

The Cubs start off their NLCS series tomorrow against the Dodgers. I can barely wait until the opening pitch.

Coco and I are still a bit down from the Mustangs semi-final loss yesterday. Still a great soccer season and they finished the season 10-4.

We still haven't turned on the heat yet but I'm thinking next week will be time.

Mango showing a lot of energy and it's time to go to bed. Well, everybody else sleep well I guess!

One Tough Soccer Loss

Congrats to Bob Dylan for winning the Nobel Prize for literature. He certainly has been a prolific songwriter and one that I haven't seen in concert yet. That is on the bucket list.

We woke up to 38 degree weather this morning. It's been a while and I found out that I still like summer quite a bit better.

Bad news on the soccer front. The Mustangs lost their semi-final match up. It was a 1-1 game through regulation and two overtime periods. They lost in the shootout which is a tough way to loose any game which you've played so well. Coco had a brilliant shot from the side but the goalie made a terrific stop.

After the game Coco shed a few tears. This year's team was much more talented that the one last year that came out of nowhere to win second place. They worked so hard and put out so much effort. I told him the other teams do also and sometimes you just come up short. He was also a bit upset that he wouldn't be playing with his 8th grade friends anymore. He wasn't ready for that harsh reality. We believe there will be a third place game and maybe that will help him get some closure. It was a terrific season and the kid has become one of the best 12 year old midfielders in the whole state.

He certainly has the fire in the belly now. He says he is going to work even harder so no one can stop him next year. I can't wait for next year son!

Rainbow Trout

Everybody has problems including Denmark. It seems that a ship accidentally went over a net at a fish farm sending 80,000 Rainbow Trout loose. Since they are used to being fed they likely will starve instead of finding food so fishermen are encouraged to buy a license and catch as many as they can! After this stupid election of ours Denmark is looking very attractive if anyone wants to move.

I saw footage of the city of Aleppo this morning and it looks like Berlin at the end of World War 2. It's estimated that it will be totally destroyed by December.

Burt Reynolds is going down to Key West to receive a lifetime achievement award of some sorts. What a great place to receive an award, any award will do!

I'm still basking in the glow of the terrific Cubs game last night. Somebody just bought 4 tickets to game 5 of the World Series in the secondary market for $71,800. That's a lot of cash to watch history in the making but one thing I'm sure of. It wasn't me buying those tickets!

San Francisco Treat

The Cubs advanced to the NLCS series and everybody is going nuts celebrating except for me. I expected this since I attended spring training. Maybe I'll get more excited if and when they win the next series but I won't get terribly excited until they win it all. Beating the San Francisco Giants was a great accomplishment but there is still two more teams to beat.

My man Javier Baez is such a great player and my favorite also. Even though he doesn't always start I tell everybody that in the long run he will be just as good as Kris Bryant in a slightly different way. He sure is pure excitement to watch and his defensive glove is pure magic no matter what position he plays!

The St. Marcus Mustangs advanced in their soccer conference tournament with a 2-0 win today. Coco played another great game as a midfielder and seems to have found his position.

The leaves are a falling pretty good now and winter will be here before we know it. I'm just going to enjoy watching these two teams and have an excellent fall and not worry about old man winter!

Later

5 Hour Game

What a great 5 hour, 13 inning playoff game tonight for the Cubs. Unfortunately they lost but it was a fun game to watch. Those West Coast games are always tough as it's 2am while I write this.

Tomorrow's game will be another good one. Coco has a conference playoff game then I have a dog training class for Mango. It's going to be a full day. It's win or go home for the Mustangs but I'm sure they will rise to the occasion as they carry a 9-3 record into the tournament.

I'm still feeling dirty from last night's debate. Totally disgusting. Since the primary debates Trump has brought the whole process further into the gutter and it turns off a lot of people. I never understand people who don't vote but after watching last night I kind of understand. They just want to wash their hands of the whole disgusting mess.

I've never missed a vote in my life. It started out not having a choice. If I wanted to live at home I had to vote. No pressure there!

The Scottie Nell Hughes Poop Face

I was watching Scottie Nell Hughes this morning on CNN trying to defend Trump once again over his latest scandal. The poor woman had such a funny face throughout the whole ordeal which probably lasted at least 5 minutes. It looked like the camera was filming her while she was sitting on the toilet. I find reading on the toilet more relaxing myself. Anyway Scottie, there's about 30 days left in this election so you better buy a case of Tums cause this is only getting worse and you probably aren't getting paid enough to spew that much B.S. I'll give you credit though. It's obvious the other Trump surrogates don't believe the B.S that comes out of their mouths but mostly I think you do. Or, you're a great actress!

I took Coco to the bus this morning for the big soccer tournament in Appleton. I'll head up in a little bit and hopefully be back in time for the Cubs game tonight. He's bringing a couple members of his posse over for a sleepover. Or, more like a don't sleep let's play Xbox all night!

What an exciting pitching duel last night. A totally great game. Lester and Cueto just pitched lights out ball. The Cubs won 1-0 on a homer by my man Javier Baez. Great defense played all night by both teams. More hitting tonight please as my stomach can't take the suspense. I don't wanna end up like Miss Hughes!

Blue Collar Billionaire

Enough is enough already. I can tolerate Trump because I know what he's all about which is an entertainer who says he's smart so many times that a lot of people believe it. That's fine. He doesn't fool me nor a majority of Americans but his sons are  going way overboard and I just plain don't like the sons. They referred to their father as a blue collar billionaire. What the hell is that? We already know that he doesn't own a pair of blue jeans, never held a hammer except for a photo op and eats pizza with a fricking fork! What an insult to millions of men like my father who worked hard for a living being screwed over for wages time and time again by the likes of Donald the con man Trump. His sons area disgrace and owe real blue collar people an apology. Growing up in a penthouse doesn't have to shield one from the real world but these guys allowed it to happen like a couple punks!

Gary Johnson should just drop out of the presidential race. He couldn't name the leader of North Korea. A 6th grader knows more than this clown!

We have a soccer game tonight. Coco fell on his knee in gym class so he's a little gimpy today so it will be interesting.

Monroe County, Florida which is basically the Florida Keys is pulling cars over and setting up roadblocks to inspect animals. Forty endangered Key deer have been put down with screw worm which is very nasty and can spread quite rapidly to other animals. Basically, maggots eat the heads of animals while they are alive. Normally I'm against random stops and road blocks but if you take a look at the photographs of the poor animals you won't have a problem with it. Have a strong intestinal system if you dare google it.

Hurricane Matthew looks like it will totally miss Key West as many boats are going down there for safety. Eastern Florida looks like it will be hit hard with a possible Category 5. Good luck to everyone down there and we all pray for your safety.

Bud Selig Gets Nominated

Tonight is the Vice Presidential Debate and nobody seems very excited for this milk toast of an event. They've had their moments in history but this one seems like a salad just waiting for the second main event.

The Cubs open up friday in the playoffs and have home field advantage for the entire playoffs. That's what happens when you win 8 more games than anybody else with 103 wins.

We have our dog training lessons for Mango tonight. This should be interesting to say the least!

Hurricane Matthew hit land in Haiti. A possible slight western path and it could hit the Keys. I'm sure they are preparing for worst case!

Bud Selig was nominated for the Baseball Hall of Fame today. He brought baseball back to Milwaukee in the 60's before selling the Brewers a few years ago. He was also the Commissioner of Baseball for about 17 years or so. We ate dinner next to him in Scottsdale this past spring when we were in town for spring training. A heckuva nice guy and good luck Bud!

Ocktoberfest

I think we're still recovering from Ocktoberfest down at Marquette Park. It was a long rainy saturday of soccer after a rainy friday night game so it was nice to hit the festive event with Dad and Dee and later joined by my niece Deanna. Krissy made an excellent choice!

The Bears finally won a game. I raved about Jordan Howard on draft day and the Bears finally gave him a chance and he rushed for 111 yards like it was nothing. My man!

We took Mango to the dog park and now she's sleeping like a baby!

Right now Coco and I are checking out the new show called Timeless. It looks like a winner so far!

Friday night is when the playoffs start and the Cubs make their run. Anything but a World Series win and I'll be disappointed. But I'm confident in this team!

Another Win

The Mustangs are on fire and they now own a 5 game winning streak. They beat Garden Homes 4-0 and Coco played a great game again as midfielder.

The Cubs had a tie last night. Rain was just too much. I don't remember them ever having a tie before but apparently in the 90's they did.

Rain on and off all day today. A bad accident closed down a major road which I needed to travel down to get my Dad and Dee. We barely made it to the game this afternoon.

Tonight is just some cards and chili while lounging at home. Coco has a big soccer tournament tomorrow.

Next friday starts the baseball playoffs. They can't get here soon enough!

Coach Knight's Nightmare

Fool us once Gary Johnson but not twice. Johnson totally disqualified himself for the Presidency yesterday by not being able to mention a single foreign leader. My 12 year old son knows a handful. That Spicolli bit has become well worn Gary and lack of intelligence isn't funny.

Coco has another soccer game today. Fall is here so he shouldn't get over-heated.

Tropical storm Matthew is brewing up into a possible hurricane. So far it's unknown how big it can get or where exactly it will heading.

The GOP leaders are now having reservations about overriding the President's veto believing that the bill was written with some holes and perhaps the President was correct. Speaker Ryan says it may have to be fixed. Yes, the day after you do something is always a good time to fix it. I've lost total confidence in Ryan who will just do anything to make a President look bad.

I don't understand Bobby Knight neither. Coach Knight was a master at preparation and discipline. Yet he travels all around the country propping up a stiff who neither prepares for anything or has any discipline. Shame on you coach. I used to respect you and what you stood for. I'll never mention your philosophy ever again when talking sports with my son because it's obvious that you never bought into your own words!

Nothing But Soccer

It's going to be a busy soccer week. Coco had a game last night. It was a B game but they were short on players so he played most of the game and had two assists as a midfielder. He has another B game Thursday night and then an A game Friday and a tournament on Saturday with two games it looks like.

The Cubs signed Theo Epstein to a 5 year extension. For how he has turned around the Cubs they should have gave him a piece of the team. When they win the World Series the man could be King!

Speaking of guys who want to be King, Trump is at a rally in Waukesha tonight. At least all the loons will be under one roof.

The second episode of Designated Survivor is on tonight and it's very intriguing with great writing. It stars Kiefer Sutherland and it has the feel of 24 and each episode is continuous upon the previous episode. Coco likes it a lot and it's probably the first real show we've ever watched together. Unless you want to count Sponge Bob as a real show!

Back To School

Today was the first day of dog training classes for Mango. It was adults only without the dog for the first one. Looks like it will be beneficial. It can't hurt anyway and I'm sure we will pick up some good things.

The Cubs look like they will win another one tonight. Joe Maddon is playing all the reserves heavy innings and resting the starters.

Rainy and 57 degrees today. Fall is here but let's not get to winter too fast please!

Plenty of talk about the debate today. Most people had Clinton winning and Trump just plain silly for fat shaming Miss Universe and doubling down on it this morning. He really seems to hate fat people more than anything and this lady was hispanic also so she gets the Trump double whammy. All 160 pounds of her which I didn't know was fat but Trump's world is a bit different than mine and I'm very thankful for that!

Trump Choked

I told a guy today that there was no way that Trump could lose this debate. The bar was set so low for him and he just had to be decent and he would win overwhelming and the guy agreed with me one hundred percent. So much for the prediction business. Trump looked like a complete amateur and totally lacking of knowledge on a couple topics. He was more vague than usual and judging by the look on his face he drank a couple gallons of lemonade just before he went on stage with that sour puss facial expression. All the polls show Clinton winning the debate in a landslide. The pressure obviously got to him!

The Cubs won their 100th game with 6 left to play. I predicted 104 wins and it's still very possible!

Coco had his soccer tournament on saturday cancelled and they are trying to put a new one together. Instead of pouting and having a fit or saying something stupid he just decided to practice on his own. That's called preparation. Looks like ole Donny could learn something from my 12 year old son instead of acting like one himself!

Goodbye Arnie Palmer

Arnold Palmer passed away today at the age of 87. Everybody liked Arnie. He's one of the few people that I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about. That's because he always carried himself with dignity and class and stayed above the fray. He was a legend who will be missed!

The Bears lost to the Cowboys but the offensive looked better. The defensive actually looked worse but they had a lot of injuries. Now it's nothing but young guys playing and that's fine by me. Let's see who can play. The Cubs went this route and they now have the best record in baseball!

Nile has a new shoe that has a memory chip and battery and ties your shoes for you. I love Nike. But I'll stick with the old fashioned shoes guys!

Air Show Returns

The air show will be returning to Milwaukee next year on July 15-17. The last time it returned it was totally fogged in and it didn't go off. We used to have one every year and I miss seeing it every summer.

The Mustangs won their 4th consecutive game today 3-0. Coco played great and their record is now 4-2. Mango came to the game with me and she behaved very well.

Donald Rumsfield blasted George H.W Bush today as he intends to vote for Clinton. He reiterated something to the extent that he's getting up there in years. What an insult to a very very good man. Rumsfield should like in the mirror and think why he's the poster child of bad judgment. The WMD turn up yet pal???

Eggo Recall

Sometimes eating healthy or trying to doesn't really pay. The makers of Eggo's recalled their whole wheat Eggo's. Luckily for me, we have the regular Eggo's in our freezer and there isn't anything wrong with them babies!

A rainy day today. Coco wiped out and cut up his knee fairly bad at soccer practice today. It's pretty stiff and he might not be able to play in the game tomorrow, we shall see.

The Mustangs won their game last night 3-2 in overtime in another thrilling game!

A get well soon to my good buddy Dennis James who's recently been diagnosed with leukemia. He's one of the all time good guys and a heckuva baseball fan!

I took Mango out this morning and we almost ran into a possum. We also went to the dog park around 6 and she did a lot of running once again!

Exxon settled their pollution lawsuit from their spill in the Yellowstone River for 12 million bucks. It's obvious by now that Exxon just doesn't give a about any of their spills. They have more than enough money to just pay it off. Maybe some jail time will do a few Ceo's good.

Another disgrace is  CEO Heather Bresch of Mylan who just gouges consumers who use the Epi Pens. She's the daughter of Democratic Senator Joe Manchin who has no concerns over the pollution spills in the rivers of West Virginia. Ole Joe was one of my first targets when I started this blog and it seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I am an equal opportunity critic for those keeping score.

I did manage to see one Trump bumper sticker and two yard signs this week compared to hundreds of signs for Clinton. Don;t worry though, Trump just announced that he favors stop and frisk for every state and that should get him a lot of votes. We all know who gets groped if that ever passed don't we Donny????

Monday Night Football

The Bears just looked pathetic on Monday Night Football losing a lopsided game to a mediocre Eagles team although their rookie quarterback is the best rookie I've seen in years. At least I have the Cubs to hang onto for the fall.

The Cubs are certainly having fun. Second Baseman Ben Zobrist lives close to Wrigley Field and rode his bike to the game yesterday. In full uniform! Somebody taped it and it was a riot to see!

It reached 89 by the lake today in Milwaukee but now it's pouring out.

Several Alabama schools cancelled school today because of rumors that they would be attacked by clowns. Yep clowns. Whoever Alabama votes for President, I'm just going to vote the opposite and figure I made a good decision. That's the beauty of the internet. If you're feeling down about your team losing or something else in your life, there's always somebody out there that eases that sad feeling by their own stupidity. Heck, I might have to move there!

From Georges Tavern To Just Arts Saloon

It was a weekend worth having and a really fun Saturday. Krissy and I started off at Georges Tavern which is an old school industrial tavern that was close to closing it's doors until it was revived by the Pedal Tavern. Our friend Gary joined us and then we headed over to Just Arts Saloon.

Just Arts Saloon is one of my favorite bars in all of Milwaukee on Second Street. Check out a wonderful musician we discovered playing at Arts in Annalise Curtin. Her website is AnnaliseCurtin.com.  We bought her CD and it was nice chatting with her!

Cubs Clinch

The Cubs officially clinched the division title last night with a Cardinal loss. They also beat the Brewers in extra innings today! Going to be a great playoff run in a couple weeks.

The Mustangs won their soccer game for St. Marcus tonight by a 3-2 score. It was a thriller and the coach inadvertently almost blew it by leaving the third string defense in a bit too long when they were up 2-0. A penalty shot won it with about a minute left and the shot hit the upper crossbar and bounced down just over the line. Coco had a difficult shot that just missed.

I saw a very large funeral procession today. The hearse was an old fashioned glass horse drawn carriage that you could see the casket as it went down the street. It was quite an elegant sight.

Ole Donny Trump finally admitted that President Obama was born in the United States. Yes, next time tell us something that we didn't know genius.

Trump isn't the only whack job in this election. Jill Stein from the Green Party wants Congress to set interest rates. Really, these guys haven't done anything in 6 years and they can't be impartial and avoid special interests. Plus she couldn't explain the purpose of that. Plus she was arrested recently for painting graffiti on public property. This is a job for an adult you know!

Mark Cuban turned the table on ole Donny and offered him 10 million bucks either through charity or directly to Trump for a 4 hour interview. One on one over his policy proposals. No response from Donny yet and you will never get one. The guy has no real guts! None............................................................. SAD really.

Wisconsin For Sale

Such a beautiful day ruined by Governor Walker today as true colors rose to the surface for all to see. Over 1200 pages of the John Doe Investigation were somehow secretly leaked to the Guardian. It's very apparent that if you give him money he will give you what you want and even put it in the budget for some reason. In this case a lead paint maker gave ole Scottie almost a million bucks for his campaign and the next thing you know it's okay to make lead paint. The mine companies did the same thing up north and a competing indian tribe gave him a lot of money to shutdown a potential Seminole Indian casino in Kenosha.

The thing that is really upsetting is that he had the Wisconsin Supreme Court shut down the John Doe Investigation by working with outside political groups in violation of Wisconsin law to help get his guys on the court re-elected. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is almost as guilty as the Governor.

Illinois has a history of throwing their crooked Governor's in jail. By my count there's been at 4 of them in the last 40 years doing some hard time. I can only hope they saved our Governor a bottom bunk and a lot of lube!

National Disgrace

What a beautiful 70 something degree day in Milwaukee. Almost picture perfect after a lot of recent rain.

The Cubs beat the Cardinals today 7-0. This leaves them one game away from clinching the division and there's almost 3 weeks left to play. Jon Lester pitched 8 shutout innings and Anthony Rizzo hit two home runs. Both players have been red hot lately.

Helen Mirren is filming her new movie today in Key West at the Hemingway House. It's the perfect place for a period piece as it still looks like something from the 1930's. It's truly an interesting place to visit and just a marvelous spread.

Coco is at soccer practice and after I pick him up we're heading back over to the filed for a quick 10 minute practice to go over a few things he needs to know for his position change. Preparation is everything!

Colin Powell referred to Donald Trump as a 'national disgrace' in an email to Condi Rice. She thoroughly agreed. How no one else in the GOP couldn't beat this guy in the primaries will forever be a real mystery to me!

Body Double

I can't stand this election. I really can't. I never knew how many stupid people actually live here. Today, I watched perfectly normal people talk on the internet about Hillary Clinton having a body double. Apparently, she left sick in New York City on Sunday and came out a couple hours later by herself looking healthy and a good 30 pounds lighter. A wider angle of the scene shows tons of people and Secret Service officers all around her. Clearly our education system failed more people than I ever imagined.

Coco and the Mustangs won 4-0. He had 2 shots but none went in. They moved him to striker so he could get more shots. We have a few drills and work we want to do tomorrow after his regular practice. The kid does work hard at his sport!

We gave Mango a big thigh sized rawhide for nights when she gets a little hyper. It really is the size of my thigh. She loves it. It's funny though. She chewed it in two and she actually hides it. I guess that's a dog's life!

So Close

Kyle Hendricks took a no hitter to the 9th inning before giving up a homerun. The guy has been pitching great all year long!

Not much fallout from the Bears game yesterday. That's what happens when nobody expects you to be good.

Coco has a soccer game tomorrow night. Still looking for that first win.

It's bad enough that Halloween decorations have been out for a couple weeks now. Today, I received my first Christmas email. A local restaurant is trying to scare up some Christmas party traffic. Let summer leave us first folks.

Mango is starting to settle down a bit. It only takes 3 walks a day and an hour of toss!

Leaves Are Falling

It's starting to get chilly earlier and the leaves are just starting to fall a tiny bit. Plus I need socks at night so I know fall is around the corner.

My Bears lost in Houston after playing a strong first half. That's the way the season will probably go for them all year long!

Jenny and Joe brought Bug over to play with Mango. This was after we went to the dog park this morning. Plus they brought a homemade Key Lime pie. Thanks guys!

I saw my first Trump sign today being carried down Brady Street by a pedestrian. It wasn't flattering I'll tell you that. There's no way he's even close in Wisconsin.

Coco went to Great America today with friends. Hopefully, I'll never set foot in that place again. Way to crowded and long lines for rides is not my cup of tea.

An exciting weekend is over for me. A great new week to all my blog readers!

Tomato Romp

The 10th annual Tomato Romp was a smashing success. It's such a fun event to watch. Coco went with us and was hit by an errant tomato. He also threw a few that came outside the fence. Then we went to a nearby church street festival with friends which was a lot of fun. Hopefully, I will win something in the silent auction this year.

Tomorrow is the NFL season opener. It will be busy down here tomorrow. I have to find a place to watch the Bears game as they are on the same time as the Packers.

I'm predicting the Bears will win. Houston has a new quarterback that I'm not sold on and some other new faces. It will be a choppy game with lots of penalties so I pick the Bears by 6!

Be safe!

Dog Park Day

We took Mango to the dog park for the first time. She did real well. No barking and probably the fastest dog there out of about 30. She ran until she couldn't any longer and laid down by my feet!

St. Marcus lost a well played soccer game 1-0 tonight. Coco had a solid game with 32 minutes played. The ball didn't come his way much like last week.

Tonight we're going to the German Beer Garden with John and Angela. We've been meaning to go all summer.

Tomorrow is the Tomato Romp on North Avenue. Everybody whipping tomatoes at each other always brings a smile to my face. They moved it a block over this year due to a new apartment building being built on the vacant site.

The first political signs have come out this week. So far just Hillary and Russ Feingold signs and not a single Trump sign. Maybe there is some justice after all!

Milwaukee Monsoon

What a wet day! It started raining hard at 8am then stopped and started all day. When it did rain it came down really hard. The cement in our backyard was full of water and eventually little waves.

Coco had soccer practice  though. It poured the entire time and he said it was the greatest practice ever. Besides the fact that he scored a tricky goal he said it was just plain fun. They have a half mile run back to school from the practice field. He said for some reason he was trying to avoid puddles when it dawned on him that he couldn't possible get any wetter.

I've been drying and washing his practice gear all night long. Then Mango our coonhound was hyper all night so I took her for a long walk in the rain. She's a bit calmer now that I spent ten minutes hand toweling her dry. Such an exciting life I lead on weekdays!

A little sunshine tomorrow would be nice.

Buddha Lounge

Krissy and I finally used our Groupon at the Buddha Lounge. What great food and it's really cool on the inside. The service was excellent also. We shall return!

It's 90 plus degrees and humid after the sun went down. That's very unusual for Milwaukee. A lot of years fall starts immediately after Labor Day.

I had to buy Coco heel inserts for his soccer shoes. I watched him practice for a bit. He warms up like they taught him at the Marquette University Camp. Good to see he was paying attention and the money was well spent.

Trump wants the Generals to present him with a plan to defeat terrorism within 30 days. Geez, this guy just doesn't understand how anything works and shows a total disregard for the militaries intelligence. They actually do some thinking out there Donny but I know you went to a military grade school so you think you know everything.

The only thing not hot today was our coonhound Mango. Didn't seem to mind the heat at all. Well, she is from the south I guess!
